1) John Proctor has been called a tragic hero or protagonist in this play. This is someone who falls from grace, partially due to his/her own flaws, but still learns something from his/her journey. What qualities does Proctor finally find within himself that prevent him from saving himself and signing the confession? Use at least 2 details/quotes from the reading. 2) How do the circumstances of Giles Corey’s death reflect his character throughout the play? How do the circumstances of Rebecca Nurse's death also reflect her character throughout the play? Explain how his point of view changes from when we first meet him in act 1 to the broken man that we see in act.
