why is Adenosine important to the structural integrity of ATP. i am having trouble with this one.

That's a good question, because the chemistry lies within the attached phosphate groups bound to the glucose, not the nitrogenous base. But, I think that adenosine is important in general since it has the ability to phosphorilize and add phosphates to other groups, which is one of the sources of energy in biochemical reactions.
