The positive factor pairs of 36 are: 1 36 2 18 3 12 4 9 6 6 The sum of your two factors must be -5. Which of your factor pairs above could produce this sum? I think it's 4 and 9. But would the actual answer be 4 & 9 if 9 were negative?
