How did sectionalism emerge in the 1820's?
Not multiple choice.
Welcome to Openstudy @HelpNeededLol, The North region of America in 1820 focused mainly on industry and such, so its need of slavery greatly diminished. The South, however, maintained that slavery was necessary to have a successful economy in the south which mostly depended on farming. Of course, then there was the West, which was argued over by both the South and North on whether the states in this region would be free-states or slave states. The nation attempted to settle the issue with the creation of the Missouri Compromise, but this would not last long.
