Motion Problem Two cars leave town at the same time going in the same direction on the same road. One travels 32 mi/h and the other travels 47 mi/h. In how many hours will they be 297 miles apart?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

what is the separation between the two cars in 1 hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh well I was looking at a different question I meant to put "69 miles" apart but the two cars would be 15 miles apart in one hour...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya scratch 297 miles and replace it with 69 miles

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

hahahaa doesnt really matter - so if the separation is 15 mile after 1hr....how many hours when it become 69 then? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4? I think a little more than 4 like 4.3 - 4.6 Not sure hold on let me do some math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep 4.6 but is there a certain way it should be set up? to show work? because I know the formula is D=RT Or Distance=Rate x Time

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

Nah...easiest way to just like the way u did by calculating the separation in an hour then solve for time :) good work - 4.6 is the right ans!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thanks :)

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

welcome
