a measuring cylinder contains 100cm^3 of An irregularly-shaped object of mass 70 lowered into the cylinder.Given that the density of the object is 7.0g cm^-3 and that it is compared immersed, calculate the new reading on the measuring cylinder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The volume of a mass of 70g that has a density of 7g/cm^3 is 70/7 = 10 cm^3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we divide the mass and density then we will get the volume and they are not asking about volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The volume displaces the liquid in the cylinder to a new volume, which is what they are seeking. That's what "the reading" is = volume.
