How does the direction of the lift on a plane compare with its weight as it flies at a constant speed and altitude?

OpenStudy (cail):

lift acts upward, and weight acts downward

OpenStudy (cail):

If velocity and altitude remain the same then the force of lift is equal to the weight of the plane.
