During the colonial years, fashion in mexico was influenced by Europeans style and especially the French. Families with lots of money had the privilege of wearing dresses and suits imported from France. The women's dresses were long and straight with balloon-shaped sleeves. The men suit pants with cut included a "zanahoria" (sorry I don't know how to translate to English that part) socks and boots. (a type of short boots). During the Mexican Revolution the man's style included a coat or long coat and hat. The revolutionary men wore pants, a plaid shirt (i think that is what it means in english), sandals, hat and a type of scarf thing. The revolutionary women were adelitas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Adelita They wore a big skirt, blouse, sandals and braids. :)
