E-Z stop fast gas sold $10,957 worth of gasoline yesterday.Regular sold $230 a gallon, and premium sold for $255 a gallon. If the station sold 420 more gallons of regular than a premium: How many gallons of each type of gasoline were sold?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

you think they really sold gas for $230 a gallon? that's pretty expensive :-) I think you mean $2.30 and $2.55. much nicer answer!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

so you need to write down some equations that express the facts that you know: R (regular) gallons sold = P (premium) gallons sold + 420 (420 more gallons of regular than premium) price of a gallon of regular gas ($2.30) * gallons of regular gas sold (R) + price of a gallon of premium gas ($2.55) * gallons of premium gas sold (P) = $10957 turn those number sentences into equations and solve them
