For the graph attached inside, what is a possible solution? **answer choices also attached inside... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The solutions are the x values where the graph crosses the x axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer choices A,B,C,D,E from top to bottom :) **at first i thought it was A... but then I saw that they have choices with ^2 as well... i forget.. if it curves a certain way, it becomes cubed right? :/ not sure though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the x values would be -1, 1 and 5 right? so (x+1)(x-1)(x-5) ?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If a factor is squared, that indicates a double root which corresponds to a point of tangency to the x axis.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So looking at your graph, it looks like -1 is a root, 1 is a double root and 5 is a root.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay i see... so the solution should be this? g(x)=-k (x+1)(x-1)^2(x-5) ?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Why would it be -k?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it's moving down? :/ or did I confuse it? :/

OpenStudy (mertsj):

oh yes. I looked at it again. I see. it is -

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha oh okie :) yay!! :) thank youu!! :)

OpenStudy (mertsj):
