A graph is constructed such that time (in seconds) is the x-variable and distance (in kilometers) is the y-variable. If you plot the distance that light travels on the graph, and it travels at a speed of 300,000 kilometers per second, what is the slope of the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Intervals on the x-axis : 1 second Intervals on the y-axis : 300 000 km Since it's said that the speed of light is 300 000 km / 1 second The second interval should be 2 on the x-axis and 600 000 on the y-axis. The slope of the graph is (y1 - y2) / (x1 - x2) Hence, (600 000 - 300 000) / (2 - 1) = 300 000/1 Hence, the slope of the graph is 300,000 km/s
