how do you think history would have been different without the development of writing?

History is based on writing therefore there would be no history. The dark ages mean little is known due to lack or loss or written language. The dark ages for ancient Greece is between 1200 BCE to 600 BCE where there is no written remnant. Though you may get some archaeological evidence but with a written record you can not put it into any context.
