Which of the following is the value of c for the best approximation for the quadratic function containing the points (5, 64), (7, 11), (9, -30), and (2, 4)? A. -73 B. 50 C. -5 D. -17

OpenStudy (btaylor):

I'd say A. It looks like the peak is around 5. In order, we have y-values: 4 64 11 -30 If the max is around x=5, if we go 2 to the right we get 11 - a change of 53 If we go 3 to the left we get 4 - a change of 60 if we go 4 to the right we get -30 - a change of 94 if we go to the left we will be going a change of more than 94. -17 would only be a change of 81, so -73 is a better answer.
