A plummer charges $50 with an hourly rate of $65. What's an equation for this function? If the plummer's minimal charge has to be a half hour and you are willing to pay no more than $310, find a reasonable domain and range.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equation would be 50+65x=310

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

"no more than" would be an inequality the constant is 50 the rate is 65 so y = (rate)x + (constant) therefore an equation would be y = 65x + 50 then to know when it is less than 310 65x + 50 ≤ 310

So how do I find the domain and range...?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

domain would be to solve for x from 65x + 50 ≤ 310

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it x ≤ 4 ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

correct! :) and range would be y ≤ 310

Thanks!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

you're welcome :)
