the out lier is 50 because it is no where closer to the other numbers.

That is the outlier....50...so when you take that out and compute the mean...it comes out to 80...when the outlier is in the set of data...the mean is 77...so the mean increases by 3

well the simple thing to do is calculate the mean with the outlier included in the data set.

then calculate the mean without the outlier...

and comment on the difference.
