You suspect that the spiciness of food served in a restaurant is positively correlated with number of soft drinks ordered. You have gathered several observations of people ordering food of different spice-levels and the number of soft drinks they ordered. You have also plotted the data and found a line of best fit. What would be your next steps to test your hypothesis?
Plot all data together on a dot plot to assess if there is any visible correlation between the data sets. Offer a conclusion based on the data you observed. Pick two points on the dot plot and find a line of best fit. Find the correlation coefficient to see how well the line of best fit actually fits the data.
okay, you've got some data, and a best-fit line to model it. don't you want to now find just how well that best-fit line actually models the data? just because it's the "best" fit, doesn't mean it fits all that well :-)
suppose you had a table full of people who had just finished running 10 miles on a hot day in one of the observations? They probably will drink quite a few drinks, not necessarily because the food they ordered is spicy...
I dunno its just the question which im confused about...these days school isn't about logic its just about...math...every things about math...even history and spanish and stuff lol.
well, again, you've collected some data. you have a hunch that the number of drinks ordered correlates positively with the spiciness of the food. you've found a best-fit line for your data set. don't you naturally want to now find the measure of how well that line fits the data? you know, to see if your hunch actually is supported by the data? offering a conclusion isn't going to test your hypothesis. picking two points on the dot plot (which two?) isn't a very good test of your hypothesis, as it doesn't involve most of your data.
So you are saying it can't be a, b or c. So it has to be D?
@whpalmer4 @amistre64 @phi is this right?
was this D or is it A
is it D or A?
I think D...
What test was it? Ill go check XD
6.07 Correlation and Causation
thanks.
Its A sorry XD
ok thank you so much
Its not a
No? Are you sure its the same exact problem? I was graded on this and got A correct.
Really ? wtf i had the EXACT same question and gave me no points!
Really? Thats really weird! Im sorry i can't check because im no longer in that class...btw im @undeadknight26
I knoow! hey lol
Yolo there...And sorry about getting it wrong!
