The graph below shows a line segment PQ. Graph What is the slope of the line segment PQ? -2 -1 over 2 1 over 2 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@superdavesuper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph :)

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

slope is a measure of how much y changes as x changes....look at the graph n tell me if x increases by 1, what is the change in y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y changes by 3?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

no, when x=0, y=? then when x=1, y=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk.

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

read the graph plz? x=0 what is y equal to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is y? the up/down line?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

x and y are different points on the straight line that goes across - left to right and down to up...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay on this graph the points are P and Q

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

OK what is the difference in the Horizontal value of P and Q?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Q goes from -2(left to right line) up to +4(up and down line)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and P is on the +4 line

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

yup yup good! so the difference between Q at -2 and P at +4 is equal to what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@superdavesuper +2? d?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

difference...not the sum....so -2-(+4)=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+1/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it + or - ?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

are u taking wild guesses n hoping i will tell u the right ans? :( yes, it is +1/2 but u need to ask ur teacher to explain graphs to u again!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its online school. I read the lesson and answer questions. This stuff is for the Module quiz.

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

U can get ppl to help u pass the quiz but u havent learnt the lessons yet...sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay...Thanks for the help. P.s. I have NEVER been good with graphs. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help with more?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

U NEED to understand them...if u dont have anyone to ask from ur online class, plz go thro the class slides OVER and OVER again until u understand. if u have questions about the slides, take a pic of ur computer n post it here. People will explain things to u here :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

good - sorry for being so hard on ya but its for ur own good :)
