Which of the following was NOT true of Vichy France? A. The French military was disbanded . B. The French government moved to French colonies in North Africa. C. France was forced to pay for the German troops within its borders. D. Germany required the surrender of all Jews living in French territory.
I'd go with (B) as not being true. The Vichy government did not move to its colonies in North Africa, although it did maintain control over them as part of France. But the government was based out of the city of Vichy in France which is what gave the regime its name. The other answers were most certainly true. The French military ceased to exist other than as forced labor in the Reich, France had to pay the tab for the Germans in the country, and they were also required to collaborate with the Nazis on locating and deporting any Jews still within France.
