Simplify: t^2 + 6t 7 ------------ + -------- t - 1 t - 1

OpenStudy (lucaz):

this is correct?

OpenStudy (lucaz):

@Yakima_Love

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (lucaz):

right, since both fractions have the same denominator we can add the numerators, so it becomes t^2+6t+7 / t-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would be the next step?

OpenStudy (lucaz):

are you sure it's positive 6t and positive 7?

OpenStudy (lucaz):

if all of the signs are correct we can't simplify it further

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup its both positive

OpenStudy (lucaz):

then adding the numerators is all we can do

OpenStudy (lucaz):

unless we complete the square, but I don't this would be the case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm okay thank you

OpenStudy (lucaz):

no problem
