For this, it is asking for a direct object pronoun. I am not the best in this area in Spanish so for more info go here: http://www.studyspanish.com/lessons/dopro1.htm

The only direct object pronoun here is A. lo. Invitó is the verb in the sentence so 'lo' would take the place of the pronoun or noun.
Does that make sense?
