OpenStudy (anonymous):

If Sue uses a force of 80 N to move a box that had a mass of 35 kg a distance of 25 m, how much work did she do?

OpenStudy (zale101):

work is force times distance

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Strictly - work is force x (distance moved in the direction of the force). You have to assume in the above question that the force is applied in the direction of the movement. (You could imagine for instance that the box is on the floor - Sue leans over and applies force on the edge of the box - the angle of the force is angled DOWNWARDS but the box slides horizontally)
