In how many ways can an investor select five mutual funds for his investment portfolio from a recommended list of seven mutual funds?

OpenStudy (rajat97):

its a problem from the topic permutation and combination it's answer is the number of ways to select 5 objects out of 7 =7C5=21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's 21? I thought it would be a little higher, what is the formula??

OpenStudy (rajat97):

it goes like this if you want to SELECT r no. of objects out of n no. of DISTINCT objects , you use this formula n(superscript)C(subscript)r=n!/(n-r)!(r!) there are many more formulas and property based on it i'll post a link

OpenStudy (rajat97):

http://www.indiabix.com/aptitude/permutation-and-combination/formulas point no. 6 has the formula
