In lecture 5 concerning lists, I don't understand the meaning of "e" and "u2" in the sample code. The prof seems to imply it is some kind of iteration within the lists?

OK, I get it...just arbitrary labels in the "for" loop. I wasn't aware that the for command returned an iteration of all elements in the list.
