Why did the War of 1812 almost end as a tie between the British and Americans? answers; U.S. did not break the British blockade, but the Americans were not defeated. Neither country gained land; the borders were reset to where they were before the war. The British refused to end their practice of impressments of American sailors. Both sides had their capital burned by the opposing army
