Are these points a function or not a function, explain. (0, 5), (1, 6), (2, 5) Medals will be rewarded! :p

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In a function, each x-coordinate can only be used once.

OpenStudy (bibby):

I just answered this...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya but you didn't explain very well

OpenStudy (bibby):

Then read this http://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function.html

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I'm not done. Keep reading. Now look at the three points. The first one has x-coordinate 0, the second point has x-coordinate 1, and the third point has x-coordinate 2. Each number, 0, 1, and 2 is only used once, so it's a function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok, so if the X coordinates have two of the same number then it in't a function, now I understand thank you so much

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. You're welcome.
