Using two different instruments, I measured the length of my foot to be 27 cm and 27.00 cm. Explain the difference between these two measurements.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

They are the same. They are both centimeters and they are the same whole number, since the second measurement is just 27 as well. Your feet are the same size. :P

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

You need to specify what instruments were used.

OpenStudy (bibby):

They're not the same. The difference is 2 whole significant digits

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"27.00 cm" is more precise right? thanks @♪Chibiterasu

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Yes, because it includes the decimal. :P

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

They're the exact same, though. But the decimal ensures that.

OpenStudy (bibby):

indeed. We know 27.00 to within the hundreths place for sure @chibi see http://www.chem.tamu.edu/class/fyp/mathrev/mr-sigfg.html

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

thx ♥
