OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm not sure if you'll understand my method but i'll try since there are two triangles that are similar, the ratios should be equal so you set it up like this \(\LARGE \frac{x}{x-2}=\frac{x+5}{x+1}\) simplify this and solve for "x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=x+1 x-2=x+5 ????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(x(x+1)=(x+5)(x-2)\) \(x^2+x=x^2+3x-10\) then solve it algebraically, can you do it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sorry im not good at math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2xsquared=4xsquared-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Chibi_Robo3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You should solve \[ \frac{x}{x+x+5}=\frac{x-2}{x+x+1-2} \] for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im really confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ \frac{x}{2 x+5}=\frac{x-2}{2 x-1}\\ x( 2 x-1) =(x-2)(2x+5)\\ 2 x^2 - x=2 x^2+x-10\\ -x= x-10\\ 2 x = 10\\ x=5 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is a. What are you confused about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it said math error the first time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you get it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah
