since we know that the scale is really 1cm=10ft, then we can convert the cm to ft.
proportions is my #1 strategy. \[\frac{ cm }{ ft }=>\frac{ 1 }{ 10 }=\frac{ 5.7 }{ x }\]
Now you can solve for x. Do you know how?

No. :I
Okay. Good thing you told because i can help you. :)
First. Start off with cross multiplying (not for comparing fractions though, if you understand). |dw:1391230621635:dw| (sorry for the bad handwriting) So you multiply 10 x 5.7 = 57 (you move the decimal one place to the right since your are multiplying). Now we have only 57=1x and we want to solve for x. So we have to divide 1 with 1 (to get x by itself) and whatever we do on one side, we do it one the other. Meaning we also divide 57 by 1 = 57. Your answer should be 57ft (because x=57).
