Find the volume of the solid obtained by rotating the region bounded by the given curves about the specified axis. y=1+x^-3, y=1,x=4, x=7; about the x-axis. I've tried several times using both the disc method and the shell method but I keep getting it wrong :(

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wat answer u got ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you set up the integral?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

V = pi ∫[(1/x^3 + 1)² - 1²] dx, x from 4 to 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I set up the integral like that but when I evaluated it my answer was wrong...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you probably made an algebraic mistake somewhere. Not because you set it up wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You were correct! I finally got the right answer
