I need to write a sonnet but I'm having trouble picking a subject to write on. I need some ideas and help on how to start it.

How about a boy who has an imaginary friend? Just get out a sharpened pencil and a piece of lined paper. Then put some fanciful music on and close your eyes just enjoying the music. Then open your eyes, the music still on and begin to write whatever comes to your head. Don't worry about syllables, lines or anything. Just write. When you are done arrange and paraphrase it as is needed substituting some words for others and stuff.
