It has happened to me, but but it was usually the result of some bug in the site that I believe has since been fixed.... maybe.

no no, i wana is their some way to do it. e.g at Facebook u can go offline form the side chat bar, but u r still using the account

There is no option to be invisible on OS. It might happen incidentally, but there is no possible way to do it manually. :(

I would like to implement this option because it is really annoying when people are constantly messaging me asking for help. I can only help one person at a time lol

I should point out, though most of you probably already know, that you can be in a sort of "observer mode" where your username does not appear if you log off and reenter the site. You can't write anything though. Also, there is no strict rule against creating an account for the purpose of anonymity, but that can be a problem if you share your IP with people we have suspended, as we might think you are them and try to suspend you. There is, in principle though, there is no rule against how many accounts you can make, you just can't make it to dodge a suspension. Some of us mods may have secret non-mod accounts, too ;)
