Describe how y=f(x) is transformed by a)y= -f(x+2)-5 b)y=f(-x)+5

a) well adding something to x will move it to the right along the x-axis; subtracting 5 will move it down 5 along the y-axis; multiplying the whole thing by -1 will reflect it about the x-axis
b) multiplying x by -1 will reflect it about the y-axis; adding 5 will shift it up 5 units along the y-axis
Try to visualize the lines on a graph so you can learn to just "see" this by looking @ the equation. Break it into components.
