ADD: -(7/35)+(22/39) I THINK TEST/QUIZ HAS WRONG ANSWER IT SAYS (5/13) I SAY (29/39) COULD SOMEONE CONFIRM FOR ME? STILL NEW TO THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS THANK IN ADVANCE SORRY ABOUT CAPS ITS STUCK

OpenStudy (bibby):

What's the common denominator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

39

OpenStudy (bibby):

STart by listing the factors. 13: 1 13 39: 1 3 13 39 Exactly. So now multiply 5/13 by 3/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SORRY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN (7/39)

OpenStudy (bibby):

5 3 -- * -- = ? 13 3

OpenStudy (btaylor):

@mybaby55 I think you added instead of subtracting. You may have ignored the - in front of the 7/39; if you rewrite it as a subtraction problem, you get 22/39-7/39 which is 15/39, simplifying to 5/13.

OpenStudy (bibby):

whoops completely misread that. -(7/35)+(22/39) = 22/39 - 7/35
