Molly went to the beach and collected a bag of seashells. She kept half of her collection. She gave the other half to Beth and Jack. Jack received three times as many seashells as Beth. If Beth received 8 seashells, how many seashells did Molly collect at the beach? sixty-four fifty-six thirty-two twenty-four

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If beth got 8 jack got 3x as many or 8*3 both of them together got the same ammount Molly kept because they both got half so 8*3 (Jack) + 8 (Beth) = 32 or half of the sea shells originally found by Molly

now you just multiply 32 times 2 and that's your answer :)
