In a Zoo 50% monkeys are lean & 40 % of monkeys are Black & 40% of monkeys are white and fat. If 90 monkeys are black and fat then how many number of monkeys are white.........?

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

in order to solve this.. there r 2 assumptions first there should be only white and black monkey ...i mean no grey or red other is they either fat or lean

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

If 40% of the monkeys are black, then 60% are white. Then, if 40% are white and fat, that leaves 20% that are white and lean. Knowing that 50% are lean but 20% are white and lean leaves 30% that are black and lean. Since 40% are black and 30% are black and lean, that leaves 10% that are black and fat. But there are 90 black and fat monkeys which represent 10% of the total, hence there are 900 monkeys altogether. Of the 900 monkeys, 60% are white. now u should be able to do this... source - http://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/Percentage-and-ratio-word-problems/Percentage-and-ratio-word-problems.faq.question.643540.html hope this will help ya !!
