Jill threw a tennis ball for her dog, Sam. Sam ran 45m to get the ball, and then returned to Jill. a) What distance did Sam run? (45m) b) What was Sam's displacement when he returned to Jill? (0m) Jill threw the ball again, and Sam ran after it, but saw another dog and kept running for another 100m beyond the ball. c) What total distance did he run now? (145m) d) What was his final displacement? Now d) is the only question I need help with, so if you could please help me as soon as possible it would be great!

Sorry @TL9800 i wish i could have helped you but i am not very good at it so once again sorry but i guess the answer to first part's a) is 45m and b) is 90m

OpenStudy (callisto):

Since Sam "kept running for another 100m beyond the ball." and nothing about returning or so has been mentioned, the final displacement should be distance he traveled since Jill threw the ball again.

OpenStudy (rajat97):

i think the answers for (a) is wrong it should be 90m as first the dog went 45m to fetch the ball and then he came back 45 m to jill so the distance travelled by the dog=45+45=90 for part d, i think @Callisto is right
