There was a belief that there was more of everything. There was at the time. There was plenty of timber, metals, animals, fresh water, and land. There was so much that no one ever thought it could end. Because of that thinking conservation of those naturally resources was never thought of. It wouldn’t be until Theodore Roosevelt that conservation was started and it wasn’t popular. So to sum it up Americans saw a huge frontier and that it could never possibly end so protection natural resources wasn’t a factor.
