OpenStudy (theslytherinhelper):

(sin x/cos x) + (cos x/sin x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tanx + cotx

OpenStudy (theslytherinhelper):

^ I got to tanx + cotx, but my teacher says the answer is: secx cscx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both are equivalent. If you want you can find the common denominator and add them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you'll get the other expression

OpenStudy (theslytherinhelper):

I know this might sound stupid but I still don't understand. What would the common denominator be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(sin x/cos x) + (cos x/sin x) sin^2x/(cosx sinx) + cos^2x/(sinx cosx)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and sin^2x + cos^2x = 1
