what do you mean by " conditions " ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The great migration drained off most of the black population of the south. Because of this, the population of african-americans in the north grew. The great migration helped african-americans obtain jobs and gave them a measure of class mobility. However, because so many people migrated around the same time, african-americans were resented by many urban European-American working class. The South, and its Jim Crow laws caused the African-Americans to move North.
