lim as x->5 of square root(25-x^2)?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

I"d say do a one-sided test on both \(\bf lim_{x\to 5^-}\sqrt{25-x^2}\qquad lim_{x\to 5^+}\sqrt{25-x^2}\)

dont really know how to do that my original answer was 0 but my professor said it was wrong

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, he's asking on what's the TWO-SIDED limit as "x" approaches 5, and yes, it's not 0 thus you'd need to test it by means of ONE-SIDED limit

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

you can test by start plugging in values from the left of 5 first 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5,4.6, 4.9 then you can test by plugging in values from the right of 5 8, 7, 6, 5.8, 5.7, 5.2. 5.1

alright got it
