< sign is less than ... =< less than and equal to sign.... > greater than sign and => greater than and equal to sign.... for instance if i had x > 7 then the set would contain all those numbers more than 7 but not equal to 7

if i had a set of number { 1 ,2 ,3 ,4 ,5} and i wanted to know what set x < 3 x is just a variable replace the numbers in the equation like 1<3 true, 2<3 true, 3<3 not true, 4<3 not true, 5<3 not true ... those that make the equation true makes a set { 1,2}
