Solve system of equation by addition or substitution method. 2x-y=-1 2y-x=-4

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do you know how to do either method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to do elimination. but not substitution really

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay. Why don't we do substitution? In substitution, we solve one of the equations for one of the variables. Then we take the expression we got for that variable, and replace the variable in the other equation(s) with that expression. The easy choices here would be to solve the \(2x-y=-1\) for \(y\) or \(2y-x=-4\) for \(x\). Which do you want to do? Pick one and do that.

I got it. Don't need help anymore. Thanks anyways
