I really need help coming up with an essay for my Civil War class. Will somebody help me come up with ideas..? Will post details in comments. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

#1 You are a United States senator from the state of Kentucky in 1860. America is on the brink of civil war unless someone can come up with a compromise that makes the North and South happy. The territories of Arizona and New Mexico want to be admitted to the Union as Slave states. This will upset the balance of power in the Senate. The northern parts of both territories are north of the 36°30' line, which divides Slave and Free states. Is there a compromise that will satisfy both sides? Write a 250-word essay defending your compromise. Try to maintain the balance of power in the Senate unless you can come up with an idea that will appease both sides while allowing Arizona and New Mexico to become Slave states.
