2. Roughly how many times does Earth rotate during each complete revolution ? ( 1point ) 24 28 60 365

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Revolution" is a clearly defined term and refers to the Earth completing its orbit, so by definition the answer is one. Remember - the Earth rotates about its axis and revolves around the Sun. If you are after the number of _rotations_ in one orbit, then approximately 366.25 is correct: the "extra" day is accounted for by the difference between then sidereal and solar days. That is, on average the Earth has to rotate slightly more than once from one noon to the next because of the effects caused by the Earth moving along its orbit during the course of the day.
