Hi! I have been conducting a qualitative study on this study group from the start until the end of December 2013. The purpose of this study is to understand how participants interpret the use of medals and how they give medals to responders in the study group. I would like to ask you few questions here (one at the time). I hope someone will take the time to respond. Question 1: What do you think about the use of medals? Thank you for your help, Marisa
Question 1: What do you think about the use of medals? My answer: I think they are somewhat overused because, when people just give the answer to a question (which they aren't supposed to) the asker of the question and everyone else who views it gives them a medal. But, when a person explains it step-by-step, they do not get a medal. I believe that many users overuse and do not use the "granting" of medals correctly or resourcefully. Now, usually 3-4 times a day, I see people giving the answer to the question and asking "medal?". That is why I believe that medals are being overused and not for the right purpose.
Thank you! I posted my request in the wrong study group. I am studying the group MIT 6.189 a gentle introduction to Python. I apologize for my mistake. However, your answer is very interesting and useful to me.
