Because, during colonization, more people flocked to America because it offered more opportunities and better farmland. Canada was too cold to offer good growing seasons. I believe this is why Canada is less populated

I think because during the colonizations, people decided to stick with the language they knew the most, and most people coming to America didn't want to learn the more moderate language now known as English and decided to stick with the crowd of old English, I'm trying to remember where I read this

Np I just remembered the right answer to this though, Many settlers coming over were farmers, and they farmed for a life, US Soil didn't support that in the North with it's harsh climates, And the Canadian Shield in Canada had much high degree topsoil to produce excellent crops
