You plug the number you have in for 'x' ...and do the operation...and when you are done, if it is a negative number you change it to positive ... so for 1) f(x) = |x + 8| f(-11) plug in -11 for 'x' f(-11) = |-11 + 8| Do the operation f(-11) = |-3| is that a negative? yes...so change it to a positive number... f(-11) = 3 Can you do the other 2?
