What are the steps in finding the inverse function of; f(x) = 9x -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x)=7

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the equation should start with y = 9x - 2 to find the inverse swap x and y x = 9y - 2 now make y the subject... to find the inverse...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st do I add 2 to both sides or do I multiply 9 by both sides?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... adding 2 is great so you have x + 2 = 9y so you need the opposite of multiplying by 9 as you want a single y... so divide both sides by 9 to get the inverse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x + 2 over 9 = y @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats it
