what brought world religions into Sub-Saharan Africa?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think it through. How is religion transmitted from one person to another and what has happened in Africa over the past few centuries or so? Not climate change - climate does not transmit religion. Not continental drift - this is an extremely slow process that has not moved people within a lifetime. European colonization - most of Africa was colonized by European powers at one time. Immigration - colonists, missionaries, and traders have been migrating to Africa for centuries. Missionaries - the goal of missionaries is to spread their religion and they've certainly been active in Africa Trade - to a lesser extent yes. Traders take their religion with them and share it; however, since religious fervor and/or power & control are not their primary goals they aren't as likely to be focused on conversions.
