Factor the following quadratic function x^2-16x+63 someone help me please :(

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

(x-7)(x-9)

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

x^2 -9x -7x +63

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

x(x-9) -7(x-9)

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

(x-7)(x-9)... get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

-9 and -7 multiply together to get 63. -9 and -7 add together to get -16.

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

so, you can replace the -16x with -9x and -7x

OpenStudy (mkmkasim):

then all you do is group the two and factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thats where you confused me a bit
